The Old Chapel in Slad Valley - Stylish Self-Catering Accommodation

Access

The Old Chapel is set on a slope - the 20-metre paths and steps up to the house are moderately steep so guests need a reasonably good degree of mobility.

Downstairs; living space

The property has central heating, constant hot water and a wood-burning stove (We provide guests with a supply of firewood). There's a mix of vintage and modern furniture and artwork is contemporary throughout. Decor and fittings are of high quality.

Sitting room - open plan entrance hall leads into large, comfortable sitting room with oak floors, wood-burning stove, smart TV, Blueray DVD player, and fast wifi (200mb+). 

There are plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas to lounge on. A choice of board games are available.

Kitchen/dining room – large contemporary kitchen, well-equipped with double oven, induction hob, extractor hood, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer with ice-maker and filtered water dispenser. A large wooden dining table and church pews seats 10 guests. We provide cooking basics such as tea, coffee, oil, salt, pepper, sugar. A wide range of utensils, serving dishes and other kitchen equipment is also available.

Cloak room/utility room – with shower, toilet, basin, washing machine and tumble dryer, ironing board and iron.

Children's room - their own cosy sitting room, with beanbags, Wii, wifi and TV with Netflix, etc.

Upstairs

Bedroom 1 - huge room with feature window and ensuite shower-room and toilet. Great views across valley. Super king-size bed with high quality foam mattress and room for cot if required. Sleeps 2 adults.

Bedroom 2 - large room at rear with views of countryside to rear. King-size bed with high quality foam mattress and space for cot if required.Sleeps 2 adults.

Bedroom 3 - large room with views across valley. Two single beds and one bunk-bed. Sleeps 2 adults and 2 children, or 4 children.

Bedroom 4 - small room, with great views across valley - a single bed with additional single stacker bed. Sleeps 1 + 1. Please note, this is a small room, with no storage space once the stacker bed is pulled out. 

Bathrooms - as well as Bedroom 1's ensuite shower room and toilet, there is a bath/shower room and a separate toilet upstairs. A further shower/toilet is downstairs.

Outside

Sloping gardens to the front and side (approx 1/3 acre), with drystone wall and gates to the front. Young children may require supervision due to slopes.

A large, wrap-round terrace overlooks the graveyard across the valley on one side and the garden on the other. Equipped with garden bench, two picnic tables and barbeque.

A gravel path leads up to a separate, elevated terrace with picnic table and fantastic views - ideal for sunny breakfasts or evening drinks.

We have added a large, enclosed trampoline to keep your kids entertained. 

Parking - there is gated, off-road space for several cars.

The property is not overlooked and behind it lies open meadows and beyond those, woodland. Deer, badgers, foxes, owls, birds of prey and other wildlife can all be spotted in the valley and sometimes in the garden or meadow.


Services

Central heating and electricity is included in the rental. We provide a bag of firewood for the wood-burning stove that provides extra heat in the sitting room, and you can buy additional bags if needed. 

Hi-speed wireless internet access is included.

Hairdryer provided.

Freshly laundered cotton linen and quality towels are included in the rental and are changed weekly. A washing machine and tumble dryer is provided for you to use, along with iron and ironing board.

For fortnight stays, the house will be cleaned and linen and towels replaced on the Friday at the end of the first week. Additional mid-week cleaning is optional - please let us know when you book.

Pampering: we can recommend a high-quality holistic grooming and beauty therapy service, massage and reflexology. Tracy Hunt will visit you in the Old Chapel to provide individual treatments or pamper parties - perfect after a long walk, and well worth it.
