Thank you for letting us stay in your amazing house. It is my favourite holiday let to date - and we've stayed in a few! The attention to detail is what makes it so special. Funky, understated decor, interesting artwork and yet still homely and child-friendly. Local brew - Uley Beer - and great food in the Woolpack - lifted our spirits in a howling gale (typical English summer - rain with bursts of sunshine to torment us). The walk back to the Old Chapel was a cinch, knowing that a warm welcome awaited us in this uber cool home. We loved Cirencester and Miserden Gardens (English gardens at their best). It's been a blast. Thanks.

My family and I are just back from a wonderful week here. The Chapel itself is stunning - both inside and out and we all really liked the mixture of old and modern furniture/artwork within the house. There is plenty to do at the house - games, reading materials, firepit, baking equipment etc so there was always something to do! The Chapel is ideally positioned for exploring the Cotswolds but it also feels quite removed from everything which was just what we were after. We had a lovely trip into Painswick and went to the Farmers Market in Stroud - both to be recommended. Thanks to Paddy for making the booking so easy and we can't wait to return to the Chapel...

I just got back this morning from our weekend at the Old Chapel and I wanted to say thank you for an absolutely wonderful weekend. I am sure you must hear this all the time but the Chapel could not have been more perfect. We all fell in love with it completely and the setting was stunning.
We had a great weekend. It rained on Saturday but we drove to Painswick and had tea and cakes and wandered round the most amazing second hand/antique book shop (we all work in publishing so it was fitting!), then a fantastic dinner at the Woolpack Saturday evening. Then a long walk on Sunday – just the perfect weekend. I will stop waffling on now but really felt I had to say how great it was. Hopefully we will get to repeat the experience sometime soon! Thanks again.

What an amazing place!! I felt this was going to be a wonderful experience and everything went swimmingly to plan. Fantastic to have Mum's birthday with all her family together under one glorious chapel roof. Stunning, truly stunning. Paddy and Jude, thanks for the memories. Emma, Christophe and the whole clan.

WOW! WOW! WOW!
What an amazing place The Old Chapel is.
The setting and views are beautiful and inside it is even better!
We couldn't get our car up the slope to the chapel as it started to snow so we did have to carry everything up the steps. After quite a few trips up and down we really enjoyed chilling out in front of the log fire with a glass of champers!
Kitchen is fantastic with every implement, glass, plate or bowl you could possibly want or need to use.
Bedrooms are well presented, comfy and warm. Large towels provided, although no hand towels for drying your hair.
Heating works well and plenty of hot water for us 8 ladies every morning.
Close to Cheltenham for shopping using the park and ride with beautiful scenery through Painswick to get there.
Good food at the local Woolpack although not good if you're a vegetarian.
We would definately recommend The Old Chapel and when we came back to work everyone was fed up with hearing about how amazing the place was and what a great weekend we'd all had.
Thank you Paddy for such an outstanding rental property!!!

Thank you so much for the privilege of staying in such a beautifully finished chapel conversion. We all had an amazing weekend, and actually managed a walk over to Painswick on the Saturday as it was cold and crisp (lovely craft shops and more Christmas shopping completed!) and a fabulous meal in the Woolpack on the Saturday night.
Other than that it was perfect to gather round the fire and catch up with old friends. Thanks again.

We're a group of good friends looking for a weekend cottage getaway! We were immediately excited by The Old Chapel when we 'discovered' it online and I'm happy to say the reality didn't let us down. Fantastic accommodation in an idyllic setting!
The weather let us down a little - but what better excuse to stay indoors! From the fully equipped kitchen where we created our own banquets, sitting by the fire with a nice wine, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, reading, writing, Playstation and a bit of TV for balance.
A lovely weekend away! It was over all too soon! I've already passed the details to my friends and we hope to return one day soon.
Thanks!

We spent 4 nights at The Old Chapel at the beginning of September and had a lovely time. The property is truly great and had everything we could have wanted including a gorgeous state of the art kitchen and HUGE master bedroom with lovely artwork and decor. Our friend's 10 month old had everything she needed in the family room and toys and cot were much appreciated. The games room was also great with DVDs, PS2 and SingStar although luckily for the rest of the party, the karaoke disc didn't make it out its box!
We had dinner in the famous Woolpack pub just a short walk down the road and enjoyed excellent food and wine. The farmers market in Stroud on Saturday mornings is filled with so many stalls of fresh fruit, veg, cheese, meat and pastries that you needn't go anywhere else.
A great stay and I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Fantastic!
Thank you so much for a wonderful few days in your amazing house - we didn't want to leave. Already living in the area, we were looking for a holiday home to cater for our big family who were coming to stay for a few days. The house was absolutely wonderful and catered for our every need from comfort through to entertainment. The views are magnificent as is the house and grounds - completely faultess and full of fun, it was a great base for all our exploring and a pleasure to return to - We would love to come again and highly recommend it.

The Old Chapel is quite simply a gem in the Cotswolds. We had a family weekend there to celebrate 2 ruby weddings and we couldn't have wished for a more perfect place. The building has been beautifully and authentically renovated and is really well-equipped. But it also has a gloriously quirky, unique edge. It has a kitchen, which I covet - I dream of having one like it and it was the focus of a very fun family meal on Friday night. The artwork is something else and it intrigued us all. We had the most wonderful time and can't recommend the place highly enough. Paddy, the owner, was a dream to deal with, uber efficient and friendly. We will always remember the place with fond, smiley memories. What a find.

We just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous weekend at the Old Chapel in April. It is a lovely property which has been renovated to an extremely high standard and which has the feel of a family home. The Master bedroom and kitchen in particular were fabulous.
To further add to our pleasure of the aesthetics at the Old Chapel was the artwork.
We would very much like to return in due course .... the area is beautiful with fabulous views and we became quite partial to the Woolpack!
Many thanks

The Old Chapel is perfect for large families or groups of friends (in our case) to go for an idyllic weekend. We spent hours out pounding the footpaths between Slad and Painswick, Bisley, The Camp, and the countryside in every direction is just wonderful. Peaceful, rolling hills, you'll hardly meet anyone else along the way. And to be able to come home to a roaring fire or a meal in the wonderful kitchen makes for a very relaxing time. We're all certain that we'll come back, possibly even later this year. Highly recommended by all nine of us.

Nine of us took over the Old Chapel for a quiet weekend break in the country... we found the accomodation to be superb. The bedrooms were really comfortable and nicely decorated and the kitchen facilities fantastic - we cooked breakfast together each morning and we all fitted easily around the table. We ate at the Woolpack pub a short walk down the road where the food was high quality and reasonabley priced. The location of the chapel was great - with country walks in all directions. We visited the farmers market in stroud where we picked up local cheeses and ciders and we walked to Painswick a beautiful village close by. We would highly recommend the Old Chapel for both familes and for groups of friends.
Thank you!

I just wanted to let you know that the 10 of us had a fantastic time at the Old Chapel. What an amazing place you have there. The weather was fantastic which was a real bonus. We will certainly be visiting the Old Chapel again in the future. I think it would be very difficult to find accommodation as good anywhere else. The place had everything we needed and more.

We just wanted to let you know what a lovely weekend we enjoyed at The Old Chapel. The weather was better than forecast so we woke (not too early) on Saturday and Sunday to sunshine and beautiful views from the windows. We enjoyed a couple of really good walks and an excellent Sunday lunch at The Woolpack. The facilities at the chapel are superb and were perfect for us. Thanks to you for sharing your lovely home with us. We hope that we might return sometime if you will have us.

We had a great stay. Most times when you arrive at a cottage, there is a little bit disappointment because it looks never the same as on the internet. But the chapel is the opposite. It is more beautiful! The furnishing is stylish and the art suits very nicely in the chapel.
The weather was nice, we visit a friend in Gloucester en made some short trips in the area.
I hope we manage to return to this place another time.

Of the more than dozen places we have rented for weeklong stays—in both Europe and the US, The Old Chapel at Slad wins the highest praise. My husband, college-age daughter and I stayed there the first part of September for the last week of our 3-week England holiday. Our plan was to use Old Chapel as our home base to sightsee to Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, north and south Cotswolds and Stonehenge. Happily, less was more. We roamed no further than Stroud (the not-to-be-missed Saturday Shambles Market and other grocery shopping), Painswick (its churchyard of 99 pruned yews and the fantastical Rococo Garden), Witcombe Roman Villa Ruins & Prinknash Abbey and Bird Park, Cirencester (exceptional Corinium Museum) and great walks in and around Slad Valley, right from our door.
Even with our shorter jaunts, we, like homing pigeons, just wanted to get back to the comforts of The Old Chapel and to relish the fabulous views. We had an idyllic stay. Except for an afternoon pint at the Woolpack Pub, it never occurred to us to eat out. The luxuriously equipped kitchen at The Old Chapel facilitated one of our favorite activities: cooking as a family with locally grown provisions. The Old Chapel has all the ease of home plus: including comfortable beds, flawlessly functional bathrooms and laundry facilities, wireless internet, inspiring artwork and refreshingly uncluttered décor, homey common spaces with grand dining table in the kitchen, couches in front of the fireplace and wide screen DVD viewer, and patio with picnic table. This place is a gem! I will hold dear forever seeing the full moon through the bedroom’s rosette window while hearing owls bark and hoot from the meadow. So too, our having teatime on the patio on a sunny early autumn day with butterflies fluttering about and crystalline views across the valley.

What an amazing place. Breathtaking views in every direction. Our five kids (age 2-9yrs) with grandparents in tow loved running up and down the meadows and woods in the valley, racing through the graveyard and spotting wildlife. The house is beautifully refurbished with a state of the art kitchen and plenty of space for a large extended family or friends. We had a lovely few days pottering around Stroud farmers’ market, exploring the area and chilling out. Highly recommended!

This is a perfect spot for walkers, foodies and lazy people alike. The chapel is renovated with love and real style so guests can happily spend hours lounging by the fire or soaking up the stunning Slad views. The contemporary furnishings are a million miles from your average country rental, so this really feels like a fabulous home from home. You can head out front and amble through the valley to a classic English pub, gifted by Central Casting. The kids loved the gravestones (not a bit spooky), nearby goats and the quirky petalled windows in the big bedrooms. If you leave the spacious house - and you really don't have to - a trip to the local farmers' market lets you put the flawless kitchen to good use. There is everything on hand for the enthusiastic cook and a huge refectory table and pew for the happy eaters. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless, yet nothing about this house feels contrived or overly precious. A perfect holiday let - thanks for sharing it with us.

The old Chapel in Slad is a great find. We had a brilliant stay.
I think we were the first guests through the door and I know we'll go back. The chapel is really gorgeous inside and out. Absolutely no Chinz as promised just great contemporary style, modern, uncluttered and spacious and the space worked well with a couple of young children - we had bags of room. Brilliantly equipped and furnished like a family home not like a rented property at all. Like being at home.... only better. We did a couple of great walks straight from the door that were suitable for a 2 and a 4 year old who found goats, ducks and horses. the views and scenery are truly amazing. we're used to flat Suffolk so the hills are a joy ! Stroud was great for a potter and with the Saturday market definitely worth visiting if you like your produce. we found time to drink a few pints at the famous Woolpack in the village... not far to stumble home. Good food. We will definitely book again - great escape for half term. Saved us all from insanity.
